If you’re an A Day to Remember fan (and why the hell wouldn’t you be?) then you should be able to quickly recall the cover art for 2009’s Homesick. In one word – amazeballs.
Of course I had to Google the artist behind the art and came across the inspirational Mumford.
I’m not typically one of those artsy-fartsy types. I’m not big on museums and galleries and all that jazz and I tend to think most “art” is a bunch of crap. Any gorilla with a paintbrush can slob some colors on a blank canvas and call it a masterpiece. That’s not what we’re talking about here. This dude is talented, golden, well worth your time.
Mumford is a London based artist and all his designs are created using pens, pencils, and the wonders of Photoshop. Seriously, this dude is AWESOME. You can check out some of his inspirational work on his official Facebook page and read an interview with the man himself here.
In honor of Mumford, I made two appointments for this summer to have one of his pieces permanently etched on my leg. He’s that good. All my work is done by Christian Masot of Silk City Tattoo in Hawthorne, NJ. If you’re an ink addict like me, look him up – he’s the sheezy.
And while you’re on this art and culture kick, feast your eyes on the work of Alexa Meade. Meade is a 23-year-old phenom who paints an individual’s portrait directly onto their body. Ridiculous.
